TAMPA, FLA. - One of the Spokesman Insider's very own, Aaron Sinclair, has been selected as one of the 37 students, that will participate in the 2009 National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Student Multimedia Project.

37 students from colleges all across the country will participate, in this project cross-platform project and training experience for full-time undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in pursing journalism as a career.

Sinclair and others will be guided by nearly 40 professional mentors, and provide coverage of the NABJ Annual Convention & Career Fair, Aug. 5 - 9 in Tampa in a variety of media platforms.

Media include NABJ-TV, a student-produced nightly half-hour newscast; the NABJ Monitor, a daily convention newspaper; NABJ Radio, a student-produced radio news program, and NABJ Online, the NABJ convention Web site.

For the first time this year, students will form a fully converged team of multimedia journalists based in a combined newsroom at the Tampa Convention Center.

"This talented group of young journalists is putting into practice the multimedia journalism tools of today and tomorrow," said Barbara Ciara, NABJ President. "The NABJ Student Multimedia Project demonstrates the power of NABJ and its devoted mentors to nurture young journalists and guide them to success in a rapidly evolving industry."

Past Student Projects participants include Audie Cornish, NPR congressional correspondent; Rashida Rawls, word editor for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Mara Schiavocampo, NBC News digital reporter.

"The Student Project has always been one of the jewels of our national convention and this year will be no different," said Demorris Lee, chair of the NABJ Student Education and Enrichment Development (SEED) committee. "The professional mentors have dedicated themselves to ensuring that the next wave of professional journalists are trained and exposed to the skill-sets needed to thrive in a newsroom of the future."

Sinclair has had the opportunity to participate in other student media projects, such as the NABJ Television Short Course this past March. Aaron was also recently selected as one of the Insider Anchors for the upcoming school year.
