Many Americans, across the generation lines, share Odone's view. Denise A. Smith, who is an account executive at Radio One and a Morgan Alumni, gave the perspective of someone who has seen the evolution of African-American voting rights. Her endorsement in the MSU + 2 Campaign is inspired by the importance she sees in this upcoming election. She believes "the historical value of this campaign is second to none." Smith stresses the importance of youth participation because "it will determine how we prepare to deal with real world situations."
Due to such participation in the MSU + 2 Campaign, it was able to attract a variety of students to register and become involved in the voting process. Through the MSU + 2 Campaign, students have witnessed and spread not only the importance of voting, but the historical significance of the 2008 presidential election, not only for African-Americans, but for American society in general.
"I never thought I'd see it, (This historical election), and we never know when we'll see it again," said Smith, who stressed how imperative and influential this campaign is to the Morgan State University student body. The MSU + 2 Campaign gave Morgan State University students the opportunity to register for the next election, now it is up to the rest of the country to take the next step.
