Union food service employees at Morgan State University have come to a complete deadlock in contract negotiations with Thompson Hospitality, a food service company that is currently contracted by Morgan to run its student dining facilities. The stand still in negotiations comes a month after a new contract was introduced to Unite Here, the union representing the 85 food service workers at the university.
Remember the first day of check-in when your parents were so proud but yet so happy to unpack your stuff and leave your side? Preparing for this year's Coronation has been quite a grueling task for senior La'Vita Simpson, who was elected Miss Morgan last May. The flowers must be done. The dresses need to be ready. The Royal Court must be perfect. In the midst of planning, she still has a full school load and jobs with the Baltimore Ravens, Morgan's Print shop and Media Relations position with the University's sports information department.
Once again it is that much anticipated time of the year, homecoming! Friends, food, football, and parties, it does not get much better than that. The week of homecoming commemorates the prominence of our fair Morgan. It is a celebration of life, where we embrace the "experienced" and welcome the "new" (back) into our Morgan Family.

The police blotter is being printed to make sure that we, as students are aware of our environment and also so we are able to assist the Morgan State Police Department in preventing and solving crimes on and around campus.
For years students across the nation have become so accustomed to complaining about school food that is has almost become a cliché. Long lines, food shortages, and poor customer service are at the top of a list of complaints that some Morgan State students have against Thompson's Hospitality, the food service company that runs both student dining facilities.
As college students, we all have to watch what we do with our money. We also have to watch what we do with our education. This is the Information Age and information is at everyone's fingertips. It is even closer if you have your own computer to access it.
Morgan State University hosted, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, a blood drive on Wednesday September 28, 2005 in Morgan View's 1st Floor Conference Room from 9am to 2pm. The Blood Drive was organized in light of Sickle Cell Anemia Awareness Month and the recent Hurricane Katrina catastrophe.
Why do men prefer big women rather than smaller women? That was the topic of "Big Love", a forum held Monday, October 3, 2005 by one of Morgan State's newest organizations, Big Girls United (BGU). Started only a year ago, mainly as a joke, the founders of BGU; seniors Jessica Cevis (President); La Shawn Murray (Vice President); Nicole Wooten (Secretary); Jameeka Gillis (Treasurer); and Audrey Smith (Miss BGU); have dedicated their time, money and energy into creating and cultivating a student organization empowering all Morgan women.
